Bandar Imam Khomeini is a multipurpose port and transshipment point for containers, bulk and general cargo located in the NW of the Gulf 36 n.m. from the border with Iraq.
The port handles approx. 50% of Iran's non-oil shipments. Bandar Imam Complex, to the east of the port, is a large petrochemicals plant. Additional tanker facilities are available at Bandar Mahshahr.
