The port is located in Almirante Bay, on the NW end of the Atlantic coast of Panama, and it consists of two piers, length 199 m. and 107 m. The principal cargo handled is bananas for export and domestic passenger Ro-Ro services. The port is administered by the national Port Authority (Autoridad Maritima de Panama) but operated by Boca Fruit Company LLC (Chiquita).
