OVERVIEW:
One of India’s regional ports that has been undergoing extensive progressive growth
Inner port handles breakbulk, bulk ores, chemicals, edible oils, fertiliser, finished
metal products, heavy lift, petroleum products and project cargoes. Outer harbour
handles breakbulk, bulk ores, containers, crude oil, LPG and petroleum products. Further
offshore the SPM handles crude oil and to the north is the fishing harbour. The port
also has a large naval base.

East coast of India, about 600 km. NE of Chennai.
