OVERVIEW:
A naturally sheltered and deep water port, Tauranga is New Zealand’s largest port
The port comprises the main areas of Mount Maunganui and Sulphur Point. Cargo is handled
in dry bulk, bulk liquid, breakbulk and containers. Main imports include cement, chemicals,
coal, fertiliser, grain, petroleum products, salt, steel and vehicles. Main exports
include butter, cheese, kiwi fruit, onions and other foodstuffs, livestock, logs,
woodchips and wood pulp.
LOCATION:
On the shore of the Bay of Plenty on the east coast of North Island, 160 km. SE of
Auckland and 210 km. NNW of Napier.
