OVERVIEW:
Port with adjacent free trade zone; handles containers, iron ore, bulk fertilisers
breakbulk, petroleum products, CNG and LNG. Berths protected by an L-shaped breakwater,
90° to shore length 1,030 m. and parallel to shore 1,800 m., total length 2,830 m.
handling up to 28,000,0000 tonnes/year. The port is in an Ecologically Sensitive Area/Environmental
Protection Area and is connected to the Fortaleza-Guamare (Gasfor) pipeline. The Port
Authority, CIPP SA, is a subsidiary of Ceara State Government and Port of Rotterdam.
