OVERVIEW:
Port is a natural harbour, and is the premier iron ore exporting port of India. Other
cargoes handled include coal, coke, manganese ore, containers, liquid bulk and breakbulk
cargo
The principal imports are petroleum products, liquid chemicals, coal/coke, fertilisers,
ammonia, alumina and sugar.
Annual turnover approx. 31 million tonnes.
LOCATION:
On the southern shore of Mormuagao Bay at the mouth of the River Zuari on the west
coast, 220 n.m. SSE of Mumbai.
