OVERVIEW:  Multipurpose port, handling most types of cargo and ferry/cruise vessels. Port has 90 berths, totalling 23.500,00 m. and 1.500.000 sq.m. of usable harbour area.
The harbour is sheltered by numerous protective walls comprising the Vegliaia, Curvilinea and Meloria harbour walls. The port is divided into the Porto Vecchio (Old Port) to the south, the Porto Nuovo (New Port) and Industrial Canal to the north and comprises four basins: the Outer Harbour and Porto Mediceo (Medicean Port) that make up the Porto Vecchio, the Bacino San Stefano and the Industrial Canal that delineate the Porto Nuovo.
An offshore LNG regasification plant (FRSU Toscana) lies approx. 12 n.m. off Livorno.
The port of Livorno is a Core port in the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
