OVERVIEW:  Itaqui Port is a public port managed by EMAP Port Authority and has specialised facilities for the export of solid bulk (mainly soybeans, corn, pig iron and manganese) and for the import of petroleum derivatives, fertilisers, caustic soda, coal and others. The port also handles containerised cargo, cellulose and breakbulk. There are currently eight berths in operation, with a new berth to be released in the first quarter of 2022. Another new berth is planned to be released by 2024 and four more berths in the long term
Immediately north of the public berths is Ponta da Madeira private terminal (see ``Ponta da Madeira''), and further south, Alumar private terminal (see ``Alumar'').
