OVERVIEW:  The port consists of two areas. The main port basin handles containers, dry bulk cargo breakbulk and bulk liquids, and the other area, the LNG terminal handles bulk LNG cargoes.
Hazira port (Hazira LNG Terminal and Port) has been developed by Hazira Port Private Ltd (HPPL), following the development rights granted by Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB); the port is being developed under BOOT policy (Build Own Operate Transfer) and will be transferred back to GMB after completion of 30 years BOOT period. HPPL was initially a joint venture between Shell Gas BV and Total Gaz Electricite Holdings France. Shell Gas BV has subsequently acquired 100% share holding.
