OVERVIEW:  A sheltered port handling primarily containers but also dry bulk and Ro-Ro cargo Land adjacent to the port has been made available for possible future expansion.
The port of Gioia Tauro is a Core port in the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
LOCATION:  On the eastern shore of the Gulf of Gioia in southern Italy, 18 n.m. NE of the Straits of Messina and 160 km. SSE of Naples.
