OVERVIEW:  One of Italy’s primary oil and gas ports. The main area is the sheltered harbour of Porto Megarese which is protected by Isoletta di Augusta and three breakwaters. There are additional berths to the south of the sheltered harbour, either side of Penisola Magnisi.
The port of Augusta is a Core port in the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
LOCATION:  On the east coast of Sicily, 60 n.m. south of Messina.
