OVERVIEW:
A multipurpose port handling dry and liquid bulk, breakbulk and containers. Ancona
also
handles fishing vessels and is a major Adriatic ferry port. Liquid bulk cargoes are
handled at Falconara Marittima where there is a finger jetty serving an oil
refinery.
The port of Ancona is a
Core port in the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor in the European Union's Trans-European
Transport Network.
LOCATION:
On the Adriatic coast, 125 n.m. south of Trieste and 125 n.m. west of Split. Falconara
Marittima is 4.6 n.m. WNW of Ancona.
