OVERVIEW:
City in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. It is the largest port in Ghana and, on
completion of expansion, will be a hub port for sub-Sahara Africa handling breakbulk,
dry and liquid bulk, containers, reefer, Ro-Ro, LPG and passengers.
Port consists of the Tema older port area to the north (Terminals No. 1 and 2) contained
within a breakwater, and to the SW the Tema New Port (MPS Terminal No. 3 (container
terminal)), consisting of breakwater length 3,550 m. with entrance at the northern
end.
New basin dredged to depth 18.0 m.(CD) handling draft 16.0 m. (CD). The new port area
has total 22 berths.
