OVERVIEW:  A deep-draft waterway which includes 13 Canadian and 2 US locks. All vessels exceeding 300 g.t. which transit the Seaway must conform to the regulations and provisions found within the Seaway Handbook.
LOCATION:  The Great Lakes St Lawrence Seaway System extends 2,340 miles from the Atlantic Ocean to the head of the Great Lakes. The St Lawrence Seaway portion of the system extends from Montreal to mid-Lake Erie.

DOCUMENTS:  Vessels intending to transit the St Lawrence Seaway from Montreal, 45° 32.00′ N, 073° 32.00′ W, to abeam of Long Point in Lake Erie, 42° 30.00′ N, 080° 03.00′ W, must be pre-cleared by a representative, who shall assume responsibility to the St Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation for payment of all tolls and charges to be incurred
