OVERVIEW:  Dry cargo port on the Rio Orinoco serving Ciudad Guayana. Privately-operated facilities handle dry bulk, including iron ore, and breakbulk cargoes. Palua also serves the city of Maturin where the main heavy oil wells in current exploitation and production are located.
LOCATION:  The port lies on the Rio Orinoco, approx. 181 n.m. from the open sea at Mile 181.5 and 2 n.m. downstream from Puerto Ordaz. Palua is a district of Ciudad Guayana, Bolivar State, Ciudad Guayana itself made up of the cities of Puerto Ordaz and San Felix.
