OVERVIEW:  A multipurpose port protected by breakwaters. Cargoes handled include dry bulk, containers, project, forest products, breakbulk, chemicals, petroleum products and crude oil. There are also facilities for handling repairs, fishing boats and leisure craft.
LOCATION:  On the east coast of Honshu, 150 km. south of Sendai and 175 km. NE of Tokyo.
