OVERVIEW:
The Port of New York and New Jersey is the largest port complex on the East Coast
USA. The Port Authority (The Port Authority of NY & NJ (PANYNJ)) oversees the operation
of Port Jersey Marine Terminal, Brooklyn Piers, Red Hook Container Terminal, New York
Container Terminal and Port Newark/Elizabeth Marine Terminal. Private operators oversee
the operation of other facilities throughout the port district. Cargoes handled include
dry and liquid bulk, containers, Ro-Ro, breakbulk and passengers.
LOCATION:
At the meeting point of the Hudson River and East River, New York City lies 190 miles
SW of Boston and 205 miles NE of Washington DC.
