OVERVIEW:  A district of Basrah. Port comprises fifteen berths (eight not in operation). A multipurpose berth became operational in 2017 and handles breakbulk, dry bulk, containerised and project cargoes. Vessel maximum size is restricted to the depth of water at the Shatt al Arab outer bar.
LOCATION:  135 km. from the Gulf, on the west bank of the Shatt al Arab, centre of Basrah city.

PORT LIMITS:  Extend 4 n.m. to the north and south of the port.
