OVERVIEW:
The biggest seaport on Sakhalin Island and in the Sakhalin region.
The port consists of two parts: the outer harbour (aquatorium or inner roadstead);
and inner harbour (Central Kovsh) and Ozersky. The Central Kovsh is situated behind
the aquatorium located between the northern and southern piers and is more frequently
used by fishing vessels. Total of 30 berths covering 2,700 m. within the port. Port
handles 4,000,000 tonnes and approx. 27,000 passengers per year.
Ozersky is a fishing port and is to be redeveloped into a marina.
LOCATION:
Not far from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the main city and industrial centre of the island,
on the southern coast of Sakhalin island, in Aniva Bay at the southern extremity of
the Okhotsk Sea.
