OVERVIEW:
The busiest port in Finland, Helsinki handles mainly cruise and ferry passengers,
Ro-Ro and containers. Other cargoes handled include breakbulk, offshore and dry bulk.
The port is divided into the main areas of West Harbour, South Harbour and North Harbour
in Helsinki, and the purpose-built Ro-Ro and container terminal at Vuosaari.
The port of Helsinki is a
Core port in the North Sea-Baltic and Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridors in the European
Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
LOCATION:
On the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland, 45 n.m. north of Tallinn and 165 n.m.
west of St. Petersburg. Vuosaari Harbour is located approx. 15 km. ENE of Helsinki.
