OVERVIEW:
Scotland's largest container port and only crude oil refinery. The berths are accessed
through lock gates, with water levels maintained using impounding pumps. Approx. 9,000,000 tonnes
of cargo is handled each year. In addition to containers and petroleum cargoes, the
port also handles forest products, LPG, chemicals, Ro-Ro and breakbulk.
LOCATION:
On the southern shore of the Firth of Forth in eastern Scotland, 18 n.m. west of Edinburgh.
