OVERVIEW:
The primary port of Sri Lanka and a regional container hub. In addition to containers
the port handles dry and liquid bulk, liquefied gas, Ro-Ro, passengers, steel and
breakbulk cargo; there are also shipyard facilities for military vessels.
Colombo Port comprises two main areas; the original port which is known as Colombo
Harbour and a new area known as Colombo South Harbour. Colombo Marine Terminal is

On the west coast, at the southern entrance to the Gulf of Mannar.
