OVERVIEW:  The port of Bristol comprises facilities at Avonmouth and Royal Portbury Docks, cargoes handled include dry and liquid bulk, containers, breakbulk, Ro-Ro, metals and forest products. The port is operated by First Corporate Shipping Ltd., trading as The Bristol Port Company. The former commercial docks in the city of Bristol and nearby Portishead are now used mainly by leisure craft.
LOCATION:  At the mouth of the River Avon, 10 km. NW of the City of Bristol and 30 km. east of Cardiff. Royal Portbury Dock lies to the SW of the river mouth and Avonmouth Dock lies to the NE.
