OVERVIEW:
The capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the largest city on the Caspian
Sea. Baku port handles breakbulk, containerised and bulk import/export and transit
cargoes. Passenger ferry/Ro-Ro services operate to Turkmenbashi, Aktau and Iranian
ports.
There are several oil terminals, including Dubendi Oil Terminal handling cargo from
Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
The wider port area includes facilities for offshore supply vessels and fabrication
yards for the oil/gas industry operating in the Caspian Sea.
LOCATION:
On the southern shore of the Absheron Peninsula, projecting into the western Caspian
Sea. Dubendi is approx. 32 km. east of Baku.
