OVERVIEW:  Naturally sheltered port within a large, deep-water bay. Facilities cater for most types of cargo, with repairs and bunkering also available. The Port Authority of Algeciras Bay is responsible for the facilities along the northern shore of the bay from Algeciras to La Linea, as well as the port of Tarifa which lies outside the bay to the SW.
The port of Algeciras is a Core port in the Mediiterranean and Atlantic Corridors in the European Union's Trans-European Transport Network.
LOCATION:  At the eastern end of the Strait of Gibraltar. Port lies on the western side of Algeciras Bay, with facilities located along the shore to La Linea. Tarifa is 12 n.m. to the SW and is the southernmost point of mainland Spain.
